President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Tuesday, June 8, made a raft of changes in the states and in the military in the latest republican decrees.

The decrees—which were read on the state-run SSBC TV— entailed the removals of Lakes State Governor Makur Kulang and the Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area William Chol Awalith.

No reasons were attached on the ouster of the two-state officers who were appointed by the president in June 2020 when the decrees were read.

According to the Secretary of Political Affairs and Mobilization of SPLM-IG Kuol Atem Bol, the changes were just a routine to increase productivity, and had no political bearings.

President Kiir also announced the removal of Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor as the director of military intelligence under the command of SSPDF.

Gen. Mabor was appointed the new governor of Lakes State while Peter Dau was picked as the new Chief Administrator for Ruweng Administrative Area.

The president also appointed Lt-Gen Marshal Stephen as the new director of military intelligence.
