Police officers in Juba are holding a woman alleged to have hatched a plot to kill her son.
However, Police Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin told The City Review that a detailed statement about her offence and identity will be communicated later.
Some sources claimed the woman was motivated by a male friend on Facebook to kill her child in after being promised riches.
The woman’s Facebook friend is believed to be subscribing to a cultic group that practices human sacrifice.
Pictures of a child looking worn-out and sick while receiving medical care circulated in Facebook as South Sudanese people condemned the act.
The child is now admitted at Juba Teaching Referral Hospital.
The weird incident follows another said one in 2020 where police arrested a man for auctioning his two sons due to economic situation.
