A 50-year-old man from Mundri West County in Western Equatoria State has been sentenced to three years in jail for defiling a daughter.

Mundri County Court found Morson Bol guilty of defiling his 14-year-old daughter in Miri-Kalanga, the suburb of Mundri West County town, in September 2021.

In the Wednesday’s court ruling, Bol was found guilty and slapped with a three-year jail term.

Charles Sebit, the Ag. Mundri County Court Judge, who delivered the final verdict, stated that Bol would serve three years in prison until 2025 without the possibility of parole.

“According to South Sudan’s local penal code, Article 247, Bol was found guilty of raping an underage girl, who happened to be his daughter. Not only that, but he also has some related cases. As a result, this court ruled today that Bol should go to prison for three years without bail.”

“From today, January 12/2022, up to January 12, 2025, Bol has to be in prison. If Bol finishes his three years in prison, he will be brought back before this court, and it should be witnessed by both parties, “Sebit read the final ruling.

However, the court has given him 14 days to appeal against the court’s ruling if he feels the ruling was unfair.

“In all that the court ruled today, for any of the two parties, everyone has the right to appeal within 14 days,” Sebit stated.

In addition, the court has ordered Bol’s in-laws not to restrict the children. The children, however, should be allowed to visit their father in prison whenever they wish to do so.

As a result, the court also ordered Bol’s family to continue providing the required support to the children, who will be cared for by their uncles.

It was the first case to be registered by Mundri County Court since its establishment.
