The  Internal Security Bureau of South Sudan’s National Security Service (NSS) have arrested two suspects believed to be possessing fake US dollars amounting to one million.  

Speaking to the press, the NSS public relations officer David John Kumuri, has said that it is part of its efforts to curb crime in South Sudan.

 Daniel brown Nema, a Liberian and Joseph Daniel Deng, a South Sudanese were arrested with and a curreny counterfeiting machine.

“…if found guilty the suspect will be sentenced to prison for seven years and pay fine,” Kumuri said.

 He has asked the public to be vigilant on those fake dollars which may already be circulating in the hands of civilians and to report them immediately.

On his defense, the 57-year-old Liberian said that he had been in the business since 2016.  His colleague left South Sudan in 2018 and he had just returned to the country in June last year, 2020, only to be arrested upon arrival.
