The ministry of health has confirmed the death of two healthcare workers in the Lakes State.
Dr Moses Maker (nutrition manager) and Abraham Gulung Werwer (driver) from Africa CUAMM Doctors were killed at 5:30 pm in an attack by the armed civilians from Aluakluak Payam and Mapuordit on June 7.
According to a press statement seen by City Review, the two workers were killed while on their way to deliver nutrition stocks to far west Payam of Yirol West County.
The minister of health in Lakes State Dr Jacob Akuochpiir Achuoth expressed his disappointment on the violence meted against the two health care workers.
“I am upset as part of the state authority for the violation of the rights of health workers. I urge all health personnel working across Lakes to be more vigilant and adhere to the necessities of securities and safety precautions,” he said.
He also promised to work closely with the local government and law enforcement authorities to carry out an investigation and to hold the killers accountable.
“Therefore, on behalf of the state of the state ministry of health, and on my own behalf, I condemn such devilish acts in strongest terms possible,” he said in a statement.
