The organising committee for the 2021/2022 South Sudan Cup edition has said the competition will kick off on Thursday in the three zones across the country.
On Monday, the organising committee chairperson, Wiyual Lampuoch, revealed that all the necessary preparations had been completed for the games to kickoff.
He said the SSSFA was expected to send portions of the organisation committee members to launch the official kick-off of the competition in various zones of Wau and Renk on January 20, 2022.
Joseph Apai, a member of the organising committee who doubles as the SSFA’s Acting Secretary-General, told The City Review they were waiting for the launch.
“The opening ceremony will start at 2 pm South Sudan time, and it will be launched in all three zones. Now that everything is in place, we expect more, and the Buluk Training Centre has been ready to host the tournament, ” Apai said.
He further added that most of the teams from the other local associations have reported to their various zones.
Apai said most of the teams have arrived, and only two teams will be arriving today.
“Teams from Yambio, Bentiu, Bor, Terekeka, and Nundri sides will be arriving shortly at the end of the day (Tuesday), while Yei’s champions will be arriving tomorrow (Today) in Juba, head of their counter,” he stated.
Bentiu Olympic FC were the first team to reach Juba. They arrived in Juba last week.
The team to lock horns in Zone 2 (Juba) consists of the following:
Bentiu Olympic FC vs Amarat United FC (Juba)
Malakia FC (Torit) vs Yambio Stars FC (Yambio)
Easter FC Yei vs Super Stars FC (Bor)
Nasiry FC (Mundri) vs Jebel Koteen (Kapoeta)
Meanwhile, the winners of the match between Nasiry FC Mundri and Jebel Koteen of Kapoeta will face Weheda FC-Terekeka in the play-off.
