At least three girls have been sentenced to one year in prison on Tuesday by the Rumbek B Court for stealing 18 goats. 

The convicts will have to pay 6 goats each with fines of SSP 85,000 as per the court ruling.

The Chairperson of  Rumbek Town B Court, Daniel Maliap Chawul said, “The three girls used to steal goats daily in the residential areas.”

“They slaughtered the goats for sale in the market while preserving some meat for home consumption,” he explained.

He said following a thorough investigation the three girls were confirmed as thieves and they were sentenced to one year imprisonment.

“The three girls sentenced to jail have stolen 18 goats, and these 18 goats must be returned to rightful owners,” he said.

“Each girl must return six (6) goats as compensation for 18 goats which they have stolen.”

According to Maliap, the three girls pleaded guilty and accepted to compensate all the stolen 18 goats to their rightful owners.
