Authorities in Juba County, Central Equatoria State, have commenced the allotment of land covering 1,800 square kilometres in Diggala area of Rajaf Payam.

According to Juba County Commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, the land would be used for development and residential purposes.

Commissioner Tete stated that the designated land would support various development efforts, including residential housing, industrial zones, agricultural schemes, and social amenities.

“We came here to do the launching of Diggala land showing, and the most important part for us, as the government facilities, and the government institutions including, churches, police stations, schools, public institutions,” Tete said during the property launch.

He emphasized that the project is part of government’s effort to foster sustainable development to attract both the local and international investment in Juba.

Tete called on the people that have been allocated plots to start constructing and building, citing that it would be given out to others if the owners do not show up in a period of one year.

Leon Abe, the state minister of Local Government, urged the individuals owning the land to start building as soon as possible, adding that land left unused for a year may be given to others in need.

Speaking at the same event, the executive director of Rajaf Payam, Martin Morris urged the land owners to develop the area.

“Anyone who has been allocated land should develop it. Any land that has been demarcated but left empty is not good. It will attract land grabbers and cause other conflicts,” he said.
