The Governor of Jonglei State, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, has reaffirmed the state’s unwavering support for the faithful-based institutions and called for continued prayers for the people and government of Jonglei.

He made the remarks during the reception of His Lordship Bishop Anba Elia of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Bor last week.

Dr. Gai expressed gratitude for the Church’s presence and its longstanding relationship with the people of Jonglei.

“Jonglei is a praying State. We place our governance and the well-being of our people in God’s hands, seeking His guidance in all that we do. As you visit, we ask that you pray for our government, our people, and for continued peace and prosperity in our land,” said Governor Gai.

The Governor emphasized the moral, agricultural, and educational contributions the Church has made in the State, acknowledging the deep historical bonds shared between Jonglei and the Coptic Orthodox Church.

Meanwhile, His Lordship Bishop Anba Elia commended the Governor’s leadership, describing him as a quiet achiever who leads with vision and humility.

“Today, under the guidance of a leader who walks with God and leads with vision, we are witnessing recovery, renewal, and a resolute return to our prophetic path,” Bishop Elia.

The Bishop further praised the Governor’s silent transformation across critical sectors in the State, such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and security.

“He is not just rebuilding structures; he is restoring the soul of the state. Jonglei State is once again on God’s altar,” Bishop Elia said.

Describing the Governor as a “noiseless, compassionate achiever.”

The Bishop noted that Governor Dr. Gai prefers action over public attention, quietly delivering results that speak for themselves.

“While many expected loud announcements, Governor Riek chose deliberate action, delivering results without fanfare,” said Bishop Elia.

The cleric also brought greetings and blessings from the Church’s leadership and reaffirmed the Church’s prayers for South Sudan’s peace and progress.

“It is a privilege to be here, a place of faith and hospitality. On behalf of the leadership, I bring greetings and blessings to you. God holds South Sudan in his heart and continually prays for its peace and development. I also pray that this state continues to flourish under God’s grace,” he added.

The visit also helped to strengthen further the cooperation between the Coptic Orthodox Church, White Penguin Organisation, and Jonglei State in key sectors such as agriculture, health, and education.

Governor Gai’s renewed call for spiritual partnership and the Bishop’s words of blessing reaffirmed the growing role of faith in state leadership, highlighting Jonglei’s vision of governance rooted in divine guidance and national unity.
