South Sudan men’s national team hammered Al Ahly FC Renk 6-0 in a friendly match in Juba on Saturday.

The Bright Stars will on Sunday face Atlabara FC, who were recently crowned champions of South Sudan Cup after beating Salaam FC Kuajok in the finals.

The friendlies are meant to sharpen up the national team in preparations for the FIFA Arab Cup scheduled for later stages of this year.  On April 28, 2021, the Bright Stars were drawn against Jordan in the preliminary match for the tournament slated for November.

”The South Sudan Bright Star will face the Jordanians this coming November-a match that will qualify them into Group C if they win against the Jordanians. In the same group, we have Morocco Saudi Arabia and the winner from Palestine vs Comoros game. We wish the Bright Star good luck,’’ the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) announced on a tweet.

The tournament, set to be held in Qatar, will act as a curtain-raiser for the Asian country, which also prepares to host the World Cup in 2022.
