The Bright Stars senior team have jetted in Rabat, Morocco, for international friendly matches.

South Sudan is expected to play three countries in friendly matches including Morocco and Malawi.

“…they will play Morocco, Malawi and Sierra Leone before coming back,” said Joseph Archangelo Apai, the South Sudan Football Associations Deputy Secretary-General.

According to the deputy secretary-general, despite the arrival of the new Italian coach who should take charge at the dugout, the team will be coached by the interim coach Simon Yor.

“The delegation consists of 28 members, including players and officials from SSFA and the new coach. But coach Simon Yor will be the one standing the coaching line; the new coach will only be there to supervise and give advice,” Apai said.

“We wish them a good journey, we hope they continue to shine, and their performance keeps changing better and better,” he went on to add.

The friendly games are expected to begin on October 5 and run to October 12 before the team returns home.

The friendly competitions are organised by the Moroccan Football Association (MFA) to get African countries together and keep football grow on the continent.

Elsewhere, the national women’s senior team continues to struggle at COSAFA competitions after suffering another 2-1 loss against Zimbabwe on Saturday.

They previously registered a woeful 7-0 defeat against Batswana- the worst defeat in the competition so far.

The team may be forced to the plane should they suffer another defeat against Tanzania this week.
