The Bright Stars’ journey to Dubai has been called off after several players failed to get visas.
A statement published on the South Sudan Football Association page said that “due to delay in visa issuance, the team awaited the visa for days in vain. Some players received visas; however, the majority hadn’t yet received [it] leading to the postponement of the travel today.”
The Bright Stars were supposed to play two friendlies against the Gambian side and Algeria. Their first match against the Gambia was scheduled for Saturday, followed by a game against Algeria on Monday (today).
All the games were to be played in the United Arab Emeritus (UAE).
Mr Cusin named a 29-man squad to compete in the games last week.
The friendly was supposed to be the first-ever competitive test for the Italian since he took over the Bright Stars in September 2021.
Mr Cusin will now wait for another day for him to test his boys in international games.
