The family members and friends of Mvurye Alex (pictured), a Hardlyfe Avenue Stars rapper popularly known as Mantani, have moved the body of the late artist from Uganda’s capital, Kampala, to Juba.
A convoy of cars escorting the body of the late musician reached Juba Monday evening ahead of a packed programme detailing series of funeral services.
The group updated the program on its official Facebook page on Monday revealing that Mantani’s body had reached the Nimule border, and was now destined for Juba.
Pictures from the scenes painted anguish and despair in the faces of mourners who were parched on Boda Boda’s at the border point as a convoy of vehicles snaked into the country.
‘‘The team left Kampala for Juba this morning and have reached Nimule destined for now. There will be a procession from Kator Church to Gudele One, Opposite Nilepet along Gudele road where mourners are gathered,’’ the group posted on Facebook.
It soon followed with a short sentence paying a tribute to the singer and calling on the fans to share their cherished moments with Mantani, who was described in the post as a devoted partier who championed peace.
‘‘For over 10 years, the late Mantani dedicated his life to the nation of South Sudan and the World at large through singing, humanitarian works, entrepreneurship.
‘‘How has the life of Mantani impacted you? As we document the life of fallen soldier Mantani Ov Hardlyfe , share with us a video clip or an audio or text of his impact on you to the numbers/email below,’’ the post read.
Yesterday, Hardlyfe Entertainment Company was forced to caution against misleading information that was circulating claiming the body of the late rapper had been brought to Juba.
The company told the public to disregard any information that did not come from the singing group.
Mantani died in Kampala on Saturday while undergoing treatment after he sustained serious injuries in a road accident in Uganda’s Moyo District on Thursday, July 22.
