The national Minister of General education and Instructions, Awut Deng Acuil, together with a delegation from the ministry handed over newly renovated primary and secondary classrooms in Lakes States Counties of Rumbek Center, Cueibet, Yirol West, and Awerial.

The minister acknowledged the progress and the team that took part in the launch.

“We have renovated and constructed some schools in the state and we want to hand them over to the state authorities. We are also appealing to all the parents and our community leaders to ensure that all the children go to school, both girls and boys,” she said.

Hon. Awut said the sector is open to every child seeking for education in the country.

“The schools are open. We want every child to be in school. Ensuring children are enrolled in school is not the role of government alone but requires joint efforts with the communities and their leaders. We should make sure children with the right age go to school. This is among the issues we are here to communicate,” she said.

“We thank our donors who have given us the resources to support education in South Sudan. Some of the partners, such as the World Bank, Save the Children, among others responsible for reforming the country’s education system, we are grateful and urge for the implementation of this noble program.”

The minister commended the local communities for supporting education in the region.

Meanwhile, Rin Tueny Mabor, the Governor of Lakes State, lauded the minister and her team for visiting the state to champion education programs and projects.

“She was welcomed by everyone in Lakes State, including schools, students and the public,” he said, adding that the programs will create huge milestones in the sector.
