A solitary goal by Manchester City star Raheem Sterling was all it took to seal a win for England against 2018’s World Cup losers Croatia in the Euro 2020.
It was an evenly-matched game with both teams knocking doors to score. But it was Gareth Southgate’s side that earned the prize of resilience with a 1-0 win after Sterling built upon a magnificent play by Kalvin Phillips.
England completed their revenge against Croatia, a team that defeated them 2-1 in the 2018 World Cup, before losing to France dramatically by 4-2 in the final. In the final, Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic cancelled Kieran Trippier’s goal.
