The body of the late retired Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Juba diocese Paulino Lukudu Loro will be laid to rest on Monday in Juba.
The cleric died last week in a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, at the age of 81 from unknown illness.
According to local media reports, his remains will arrive at Juba International Airport on Saturday and will be moved to St. Theresa Cathedral Kator for overnight stay before internment on Monday on Monday morning.
The late cleric retired from apostolic services in 2019 after serving God for 49 years since 1970.
In 2020, Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla was appointed bishop for Juba diocese to replace the late Lukudu.
Lukudu was among close to 30 individuals including retired Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, who received the Hulbert Walter Award for reconciliation and interfaith cooperation by the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
He was consecrated catholic priest in 1970, nine years later, in 1979, he was appointed bishop of El Obeid before Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of Juba in 1983.
Dr. Ameyu announced four days mourning for the soul of his predecessor, Lukudu.
