A 28 year-old man identified as Malok Makuei Awur killed his father in Ameth-Agok Village in Rumbek East County, Lakes State.

His younger brother, aged 24 years, then committed suicide after failing to find his elder brother who had killed the father.

The commissioner of Rumbek East county, Zechariah Malual Anyuon confirmed said the the murder happened on Friday at 2:30PM.

The commissioner said the man was negotiating with his father before he struck him in the head.

“He was rushed to Rumbek State hospital, where he died in the morning. When I heard the sad news, I rushed to the scene of murder. Unfortunately, I was told that the man’s younger brother had also killed himself,” he said, confirming that his team had embark on investigations.

“I have instructed the security forces at both County and Payams to launch a serious manhunt for he culprit and bring him to justice,” he said.

Daniel Laat Kon, Coordinator for Community Empowerment for Progress organization in the state condemned the incident and called on the authorities to apprehend the perpetrators.
