The incidences are spread across the ten states and three administrative areas in the country

South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) said yesterday (on Tuesday) that the general security situation in the country was relatively calm and stable in the last 24 hours, save for some incidences.

In a press statement seen by The City Review, police spokesperson, Col. John Kassara Koang Nhial, said most social-related violence cases were registered across the ten states and three administrative areas in the country, adding that the rates dropped as compared to previous statistics.

On Monday, January 13 at around 10:00am, a dead body of a 25-year-old civilian was found in a container site near Juba International Airport Road. The cause of the death was yet to be established by the police and a criminal case was opened in Northern Police Division, as investigations proceed.

That same day in the evening, at around 6pm, a dead body of a 35-year-old man was found inside his house at Gudele block 4 residential. The cause of death is not yet established. However, a criminal case was initiated in Gudele Police Division and investigation are underway.

Later that same day at night (9:15pm), a 42-year-old man was shot and injured on both legs by unknown gunmen in his house in Amadi, Block 2 residential area and transported to the hospital for medical treatment by sector 5 forces.

On 13^th Jan 2025, at around 11am, a 15-year-old boy was assaulted by gangsters using pangas in Suk Darfur of new site residential area. He later succumbed to the injuries, and a criminal case was opened in New Site police division, setting pace for investigations.

Col. Koang mentioned that communal violence occurred in Warrap State, where on 13th January 2025 at around 3pm, a sectional fighting erupted between Muok clan and Thony clan in Mayen village of Tonj South County. The incident resulted into the death of six people from both sides.

The same day, at around 8:45pm, a 50-year-old woman was beaten to death by a 32-year-old man using a stick in Panliet village of Gogrial West County. A criminal case was opened in Gogrial West County Police Division. The suspect was arrested and investigation is ongoing.

On January 12, at around 3pm, a sectional fighting erupted between Kuei clan and Pan-Arek clan in Alabek village of Tonj North County. The incident resulted into killing ten people and injuries to 12 others.

The SSNPS spokesperson said unknown armed cattle raiders from Unity State assaulted a cattle camp at Akamal village of Jaw County and the incident resulted into injury of two people from among the cattle owners. The criminals raided 45 herds of cattle, which were later retrieved by the armed youth from the cattle camp. The victims were admitted in Ruweng hospital for medical treatment on 13th January, 2025 at around 1:30pm.

 The same day in the evening, at around 6:30pm, a dead body of a 5-year-old child was found in the stream at Marial-Ajiith boma of Jur River County. The incident was reported at Jur River Police by her mother. Investigation is going on.

On Monday, at around 2pm, a 33-year-old woman passed away during surgery at a hospital in Wau. The incident was reported at Wau North Police Station by her husband. Three doctors were apprehended by the police following a warrant of arrest. Investigations are ongoing.

And on 12th Jan in the evening, a 50-year-old male teacher committed suicide by consuming rat poison in Hai Malakia East of Nimule town. The motive behind the suicide was due to family affairs. A criminal case was opened in Nimule Police Division as investigations continue.
