The COVID-19 cases in the country have shot up by 57 pushing the viral caseload to 4,492-just eight cases shy of 5,000 mark.
According to the report from the Ministry of Health, signed by the COVID-19 Incident Manager Richard Lako, the country has posted steady recoveries (3,692) but four patients are in critical condition.
The new cases detected came from 578 samples and it could climb further owing to the 175 pending samples that maybe announced in the next 24 hours.
The country recorded no deaths. This means that the cumulative number of deaths remain 66. As per the report, the ministry has so far followed cumulative contacts of 10, 594. Mr Lako has pleaded with the country to continue observing the COVID-19 compliance rules.
Part of the safety measures were crafted when National Taskforce on COVID-19 recommended a partial lockdown to tame the spread of the virus.
The taskforce argued that the country was in the second wave and there are necessary steps to ensure that the virus does not escalate to unmanageable levels.
