South Sudan female basketball team is facing Rwanda for a do-or-die test on Wednesday having lost the first two opening games to Kenya and Egypt.
The girls suffered a massive blow in the opening match against neighbours Egypt on Monday after they lost 65-95. On Tuesday, a hope to secure points against Kenya also slipped though narrowly after the team registered a loss of 48-66 making a tie against Rwanda a ‘must win’.
The tournament is for the qualification for the forthcoming FIBA Afrobasket 2021 set to be played in Rwanda.
South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) lauded the team for making it to the maiden tournament and flying the flag of the country.
The federation tweeted: ‘‘Our Women have made history! Yesterday our Women took the court for the very first time representing the country. We couldn’t be more proud of the players and staff and thank you for the overwhelming support.’’
