The country recorded its highest ever COVID-19 daily caseload after 174 tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours as per Thursday evening.

The country’s cumulative caseload now shoots to 5,134 as recoveries stand at 3,729.

According to the report from the Ministry of Health, signed by the COVID-19 Incident Manager Richard Lako, the country had one more death bringing total deaths to 72.  Nine patients are in critical condition.

The cumulative samples now stand at 96,084, just a few tests from the 100,000 mark. According to the statistics from government, the number of active cases remain at 1,333.

Mr Lako has pleaded with the country to continue observing the COVID-19 compliance rules.

Part of the safety measures were crafted when National Taskforce on COVID-19 recommended a partial lockdown to tame the spread of the virus.

The taskforce argued that the country was in the second wave and there are necessary steps to ensure that the virus does not escalate to unmanageable levels.
