The Spokesperson of Gen. Paul Malong-led South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) has resigned.
Chol Duang Chan (pictured)—who has served for two years as a spokesperson of the holdout group—also resigned as a member of the party. The City Review obtained a letter dated July 18, authored by the outgoing spokesperson.
“This is to inform my family, friends, colleagues and the general public that I have resigned as spokesperson and member of the South Sudan United Front/Army –SSUF/A-under the leadership of Gen. Paul Malang Awan Anei,” said Duang.
“However, the time has come for me to do other things. I will still contribute towards nation-building and peace on different platforms,” he added.
Ex-army chief Malong formed a new movement, SSUF/A, after he exited government in 2017.
Gen. Malong has now joined the South Sudan Opposition Movement Alliance (SSOMA), which is currently in talks with the revitalised government in Rome under the auspicious of Sant’Egidio.
