The South Sudan National Union of Private Schools has rejected the order regulating school fees and has threatened a strike if any private school is shut down.
On Thursday, the Ministry of General Education declared that all private schools should charge annual fees not exceeding SSP80,000 while private boarding schools are to charge fees not exceeding SSP200,000 .
The deputy chairperson of the union, Achiek Manjuat John, lamented the move saying it will affect schools’ activities as they have also been hit by the economic crisis.
He said the union will deliver a letter to the Vice President for Service Cluster on Monday with their demands.
A member of the Union and the Director of AIC Primary School, Nabucha Danson, called on the government to consider the impact the order might cause.
