Web development is a tedious and mind-draining job. Whether one uses WordPress or a code a site from scratch, the need to meet clients’ expectations calls for perfection – which makes task completion somewhat daunting.

But even after going through the hurdles and achieving the required result, some clients always have reasons to withhold payments for good reasons under rare circumstances and for petty excuses in most instances.

On a developers’ forum last week, a fellow presented a concern in which he designed a website for what he called a “handyman”, let’s call him a client for the purpose of this article. The client demanded that the site be made ready for Search Engine Optimization (it wasn’t part of their agreement).

Out of generosity, the designer did all the client wanted. And payment? Well, the client decided to pay for the services if the website starts generating revenues. We can’t call him (the client) a dickhead, for now.

What more was left for the designer after all the wasted energy? He turned to the forum for some advisory commands on the actions he should take on the client who so robbed him of his time and energy.

From redirecting the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to a porn site, the recommendations he got were nasty. But none of them was nastier than redirecting the site to “2 girls 1 cup”, a clip regarded to be the most disgusting on the internet.

What exactly is “2 girls 1 cup”?

Released 14 years ago, 2 girls 1 cup is “a porn video known to easily shock people and get them sick because it’s not like anything people would not expect to see…ever” as per the description by the Urban Dictionary.

The “2 girls” aspect represents two lesbian lovers and the “1 cup” depicts a scene when one of the girls literally poops in the cup. Yes, you heard it. But wait. The one-minute video proceeds with the duo consuming the cup of faeces and rolling it in their mouths while making out with the sh** in their mouths.

As if that wasn’t enough, both of the girls then stick fingers down their index fingers down their throats and vomit on the faeces, then on each other’s face. With puke and faeces all over their faces, the video ends in a disgusting fashion the internet has ever seen.

More than a decade passed by, but netizens still make reference to the clip, which is not a go-to for the under 18, those who are easily offended, and those that are easily engulfed by a wave of nausea. If you have a weak stomach, don’t watch it either.

But guess what? All the above phenomena come handy if you visit a website of a business whose owner withheld payment from the developer upon successful completion of his dream website as in the tale shared earlier.

It’s mean and superlatively inappropriate. However, some developers just seemingly don’t have another way to humble an unruly client besides implementing such a reputation-damaging strategy.
