The South Sudan government has allocated $300 million loan to the 29 business communities in the country to scale up their commercial operations.

 “…each and every business entity with assets should also declare [them] through the business community of South Sudan Business and Employee’s Federation,’’ Ayii Duang Ayii, the federation’s president told the media at his office in Juba on Tuesday.

The businesses will therefore declare some of their input capital such as road and bridge machines for construction and vehicles for transportation. The government however questioned the business communities on their plans to refund the money owing to the scarcity of United States Dollars. To this, the business communities said they planned to diversify their markets to recoup the money after making their profits.

“The business community was aware of this and their response was impressive. They said that [they will do so] after collecting all the money and the value of the commodities which will be sold in the country in the low prices in South Sudanese Pounds.

“And with this amount of money we have a lot of resources so we will be buying a lot of items such as cows, timber and a lot of agriculture products such as gam Arabic, sesame and groundnuts so we buy them in the local currency and export them to the other countries which will be another way of refunding the money,” he said.

He urged business communities especially the unions of farmers and petroleum union and many others to start preparing their project proposals so that they can start planning for the bank guarantee. Due to the poor economic situation in the country, the Business communities have come up with a work plan on how to deal with the issue and to find a way of how high prices of commodities in the markets could be reduced for the citizens.

Federation’s boss Ayii Duang Ayii also revealed that the businesses were also planning to work on how best they could solve the issue of higher prices of commodities that is chocking the local communities.
