Forty-two cattle that had been stolen in a cattle raid in Duk County, Jonglei State, have been recovered by youth, an official said, revealing that one person involved into the raid was also wounded.
John Chatim, the commissioner of Duk County said the raid took place over the weekend and saw some 42 herds of cattle stolen by suspected criminals from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area.
He said one person had been wounded and is in critical condition in hospital receiving treatment.
“The youths went after the cattle rustlers and recovered the animals. They went after them towards the direction of Pibor,” Chatim said.
The commissioner added that the wounded person was taken by the Red Cross and is still undergoing treatment, confirming that he was shot in the stomach.
“The government needs to track down all the criminals and bring them to justice,” he said.
