Central Bank Governor Dier Tong Ngor has tested positive for COVID-19. The governor made the announcement on his Facebook page on Friday morning saying he had no severe symptoms but will be self-isolating as required by the health protocols.
He said: ‘‘To all family members, colleagues, and friends. This is to announce to you that I have just tested COVID-19 positive. As of now, I have no any severe symptoms, only a mild body and muscles aches and a mild dry cough.
‘‘No fever, no headache, no loss of taste or smell or running nose. I will be working from home from tomorrow since I will be on self-isolation for the next two week. I shall be updating you from time to time.’’
This comes just a day after Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny also confirmed that he was in self-isolation after testing positive for the virus.
Mr Ateny also posted on his Facebook page but he appeared doubtful of the result adding that he had no COVID-19 –related symptoms.
He said, ‘‘I have tested positive to COVID-19-having adhered to mandatory test carried out by Dr John Garang Infectious Disease Unit on orders from the office of the president,’’
He preceded, ‘‘However, if the testing unit was right then thank God and kedit Atenydior that I have no symptoms of such infection. But I must continue on self-isolation until when it is right to go about my normal duties.
Meanwhile, I can continue to communicate with anybody willing to talk to me via electronic means.’’
