The Yirol Community Radio station manager, Dut Takpiny Jok, has dismissed claims that the station workers are leaving due to a lack of payment.
Jok rubbished the claims, terming them ‘‘baseless’’ saying since the radio was donated to the Yirol Community, they have been working without any support from any NGOs, and they have no financial crisis.
“We have been operating since 2016 up to date without getting any support. By then, the government of Eastern Lakes State managed to put the names of the staff working under Yirol Community Radio on the government payroll and the workers were receiving their money,” said Jok, during an interview with The City Review.
He warned the public against circulating wrong information on social media.
This came after The City Review received a message on its Facebook page from one of its readers, alerting the newspaper to the possibility of the station closing due to staff departure.
The message read, “Yirol Community Radio faces an economic challenge as staff leaves one by one.’’
