At least two people have died from Cholera and twenty-eight suspected cases have been confirmed in Leer County, Unity State.

Stephen Nyieth Duoth, the acting Director for Unity State Ministry of Health said that the cases were reported from Adok Payam.

He said it was the death case to be registered in Leer County since the outbreak of the disease last year.

First case of Cholera was confirmed in Leer County on December 16, 2024 when two patients tested positive.

The acting director General said the state health ministry had worked hard to secure vaccines but warned the community to adhere to the standard operation of cholera preventive measures.

“We urge the residents to cooperate with health teams and adhere to hygiene guidelines to prevent further spread of the disease.”

“We are calling the public to maintain good hygiene, and follow awareness messages shared through Leer FM radio and by our teams on the ground in Leer County,” Nyieth stated.
