The National Parties Alliance (NPA) announced its formal launch yesterday, announced members and stated its commitment to fostering justice, peace, development, and prosperity in South Sudan.

According to an official statement released by the party yesterday, NPA said it represents a coalition of diverse political parties, including the Real Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army (R-SPLM/A), South Sudan United Front/Army National Inclusive Movement (SSUF/A-NIM), and Patriotic People’s Party / Force (PPP/F).

“These parties having been part of significant initiatives like the Tumaini Initiative in Nairobi, Kenya, are now dedicated members of the NPA, championing the cause of a better future for South Sudan,” the Alliance said.

While the Real Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army R-SPLM/A and South Sudan United Front/Army SSUF/A-NIM were previously affiliated with the South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance (SSOMA) and the Tumaini Initiative, the party added that they have now realigned their efforts, joined forces and become part of it.

Similarly, the Patriotic People’s Party / Force (PPP/F), formerly a member of SSUNA and alliance partner with the South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A), has chosen to unite under the NPA banner in pursuit of a shared vision for the country, it said.

“The NPA is unwavering in its mission to promote justice, peace, development, and prosperity in South Sudan. By embracing inclusivity and collaboration, we believe that we can pave the way for a brighter tomorrow for all citizens of the nation.”

NPA said it stands on three principals: Unity, diversity and accountability.

It said it stands to promote unity among different political parties to work together towards common goals and objectives, to collaborate and be in solidarity to achieve a unified front in political decision-making and governance. 

“Second principal is Diversity. The NPA recognizes and values the diversity of member parties, acknowledging that each party brings unique perspectives, expertise, and support to the alliance. The alliance embraces diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that all member parties are represented and heard in the decision-making process,” it added.

The NPA clarified that it has two systems. First is the military system, which operates only at the party level, meaning each party is responsible for its own army. Secondly, is the coalition, which, it said, operates only at the political level.

The NPA said it has already begun reaching out to other opposition groups and civil society organizations in order to build a broad-based coalition.

“We are open to dialogue with the government in order to find peaceful solutions to the country’s problems. NPA therefore calls upon all political parties and stakeholders to join in this crucial endeavor to build a better South Sudan together.”
