From the green hills of Western Equatoria to the sweeping savannahs of Jonglei, from the fertile lands of the Nile Basin to the cattle camps of Lakes State, this land tells a story. It is a story of resilience, of a people who have survived wars, famine, and displacement. It is also a story of hope, of promise, and of the deep yearning to build a future free from fear.
This land is my land. This land is your land. It was made for you and me. It was given not as a gift to destroy but as a trust to uphold. The rivers that flow through it, the soil that feeds us, and the skies that watch over our children belong to all of us. They were not meant to be stained with the blood of brothers or echo with the cries of grieving mothers.
Too often, we have allowed ourselves to be used by forces that care nothing for the land or the people. We have turned our tools into weapons and our communities into battlegrounds. We have traded the peace of the harvest for the thunder of gunfire. But this is not our destiny. This is not who we were meant to be.
This land calls out to us. It cries for healing. It calls for sons and daughters to return, not as warriors but as workers, dreamers, and builders. It calls for leaders who serve rather than exploit, for youth who innovate rather than destroy, for elders who speak wisdom instead of fear.
We must rise above the divisions of tribe, of region, and of political allegiance. We must see each other not as enemies but as fellow custodians of a land we all call home. The peace we seek will not be delivered by bombs or intimidation but by compassion, cooperation, and a shared commitment to justice.
This land was made for you and me. That truth must become more than a song. It must become a declaration of purpose, a guide for our actions, and a covenant between every citizen who walks its soil.
Let us reclaim our birthright. Let us sow peace where hatred has taken root. Let us raise our voices together, not in protest of one another, but in praise of the land that binds us. South Sudan is ours to heal, to nurture, and to love.
This land was made for you and me.
