The Executive Director of African Zeal University, Taban Augustin, has dismissed the rumours that the campus was attacked by armed militants on Thursday.

In an interview with The City Review yesterday, Augustine said information circulating on social media is false.

He said the attack happened in Yaba army barracks in Lobonok, located 3km from the university, adding that the barrack came under attack from an unknown armed group.

However, Augustine disclosed that one of his students who was also a soldier lost his life in the line of service.

“One of our students who is also an army officer got killed during the incident at the barracks.”

“We do not know the reason for the attack on the military barracks, but the university is safe at the moment.”

He said the university is operating normally as there is no security threat in the area, adding that the student was killed in the line of duty.

Augustine appealed to the parents and the general community to remain calm and not spread false information.
