The National Examination Council (NEC) is set to begin marking the secondary and primary certificates of education examination 2024 today after receiving SSP 2 billion from the finance ministry.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, Simon Nyok, the Secretary General of the National Examination Council (NEC) said the delay in the results was caused by the failure to obtain funds to execute the task.

“By this time, we should have processed and announced the results, especially the results for the certificate of primary education the successful candidates should have joined senior one when the schools officially opened on Monday 3 February 3, 2025,” he explained.

Nyok noted that it was very unfortunate to report that the secretariat had not been able to process the exams due to lack of funding.

“Nevertheless, the secretariat of examination has just today received some funding from the ministry of finance to begin marking the CPE exams. That means as of tomorrow, the secretariat will embark on processing of the examinations,” he stated.

Nyok highlighted that what they had received was just 28 percent of the total funds they needed to complete the whole process.

The Ministry of Finance has released SSP 2 billion only for the start of the marking.

“What we have received is not enough as we needed SSP 7 billion for the process to complete,” he remarked.

However, he assured the public of the ministry’s commitment to working hand in hand with the stakeholders to speed up the process of the exam marking.

“We will continue to engage with our colleagues in the ministry of finance to avail the needed resources to clear bills for field administration of exams, cost of printing and transportation of exams,” Nyok added.

He called on the candidates, parents and all stakeholders to bear with the ministry as they engage the teachers in processing the examination results.
