The governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony (pictured) has appointed Kalisto Ladu as the new mayor of Juba.

The governor also appointed Solomon Nyambur as deputy mayor for administration and finance.

And in the same decree the he reinstated Thiik Thiik as the deputy mayor of infrastructure and development.

Juba City Council has worked for a year without a mayor from last year when the government was dissolved.

The new officials will work with the committee that Governor Adil formulated on March 8 to spearhead the cleanliness in the city.

The governor said the 12-member committee would be tasked with ensuring cleanliness of the Juba County Council effective from the date of its constitution on March 8. In specific, the order stated that they were to ensure that garbage and the garbage fees were duly collected and all the three blocks in the city are clean.

They were also to ensure tidiness of various premises housing various NGOs and are to brief the governor from time to time.
