In his step towards strengthening peace and cohesion among communities, governor of Jonglei State, Riek Gai Kok has dispatched peace delegations to several Counties in the State.
The teams are expected to meet the traditional spiritual leaders to draw a roadmap and to restore security in the state.
Among these envoys, the delegation to Urur County has already met the spiritual leader Dak Kueth known as (Gok Deng).
During his speech, the head of the delegation, Tang Chatiem, confirmed to the spiritual leader and communities of Urur that the state governor’s administration is taking deliberate steps to harness the vast boycott capabilities and put it on the path of sustainable growth.
Gen James Malith said: “The governor’s commitment to transparency, accountability and sympathy was also clear in his speech.”
“Dr. Riek Gai pledged to work tirelessly to improve Jonglei and the Uror County,” he added.
The delegation explained to the spiritual leader and the people of Uror the efforts made by the ruler in order to end the suffering of the people of the state and the County.
For his part, spiritual leader Dak Kueth expressed his appreciation to the President Salva Kiir for appointing Dr. Riek Gai Kok as governor of Jonglei State, and stressed his continued support for the new Governor.
“I call on all leaders and citizens alike, to actively participate in discussions about the progress of the state. Constructive participation will help us make changes,” he said.
This cooperative effort is in line with the vision of Governor Gai as shown in his speech during the recent visit of the delegation of Dak Kueth in Juba, where he stressed the importance of the collective effort in achieving a safe and united mandate
The county delegation, sent by the spiritual leader to Juba, visited the new governor, where many issues were discussed, including completing one of the region’s roads that passes through the county, Uror hospital and schools, and other infrastructure developments to enhance economic activities and reduce inter-communal violence.
