A heavily armed group from South Sudan killed three herders and made away with over 170 cattle in a raid along South Sudan-Kenya border on Tuesday, media reports indicated.
According to Xinhua, the Kenyan Rift Valley Regional Coordinator, George Natembeya, pointed out that the armed men hailed from Kapoeta area of Eastern Equatoria State.
Natembeya said an unspecified number of people were also injured in what he termed as a revenge attack by a group of gunmen from a community in Kapoeta, who raided one of the grazing lands in Turkana, northern Kenya.
“The group was big and they overpowered Tuposa herders. Three herders were shot dead and several others injured,” said Natembeya.
The reported also added that tension at South Sudan-Kenyan border remains high as Turkana herders relocated to safer areas.
