A Kenyan village is coming to terms with a painful bizarre incident in which a 23-year-old woman beheaded her one-year-old baby for refusing to breastfeed.

According to the Kenyan media, Night Akoth Otieno, who hails from Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, was upset after her son refused to breastfeed and dashed for a sharp machete which she used to kill the young boy, leaving his body and the head scattered in a pool of blood.

The woman was then tied up by the locals and handed to the area assistant chief Gabriel Nyatame, after committing the heinous murder on Saturday, February 27, 9pm. The incident is reported to have happened in the absence of the husband.

According to Nyatame, the suspect is suffering from a mental disorder. She is said to have confessed to hacking her child to death for refusing the breast milk.  She is being detained at Ndhiwa Police Station while the baby’s body was taken to a mortuary within the area.
