President Salva Kiir has issued a Republican decree sacking the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Mayen Machut Achiek
Read in the state-owned SSBC on Monday evening, the decree stated the appointment of Dr Victoria Anib Majur as the replacement for Dr Machut.
Dr Machut was appointed in June 2020 to replace the country’s long-serving Health Undersecretary, Dr Makur Matur Koryom, who had held the position since 2012.
No reasons were cited for the change.
In a separate decree, President Kiir revoked the appointment of Henry Stephen Danga, as a member of Revitalised Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) representing Central Equatoria State.
Anita Morsan and John Madeng Chan of Eastern Equatoria and Jonglei states were appointed to the assembly.
The changes made by President Kiir, revoking and reappointing members of Revitalised Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU) to the TNLA, mostly affect Kiir’s ruling party, SPLM.
The appointments come as the transitional government is preparing a ground for the swearing-in ceremony which is slated for Friday, July 9, to enable the new members to commence their duty.
