Hon. John Dor Ngor Dor, the leader of the Catholic Democratic Party, one the Umbrella Alliance of Parties in the National Parliament has denied Peter Mayen Majongdit’s claims that he is the legitimate leader of the Other Political Parties (OPP) that signed the peace agreement in 2018.

In an exclusive interview, Hon. John Dor stated that Peter Mayen is not the leader of the Other Political Parties (OPP) or the Umbrella Alliance.

He stated that the Umbrella Alliance “operates under the leadership of Ms. Jacqueline Adut, and communicates with the media through its spokesperson, Maulana Mayen Jeremiah.”

He added that any statements made by Mjongdit represent his party, the People’s Liberal Party (PLP), adding that his statements to the media were personal and individual and do not represent the Umbrella Alliance group.

“I want to refute what former President Peter Mayen Majongdit said in the Al-Watan newspaper, where he claimed to be the chairman of the Alliance of Other Political Parties (OPP) and the Umbrella Alliance. This is not true. He is no longer the chairman of the OPP or the Umbrella Alliance,” he introduced, adding:

“Peter Mayen is the chairman of the People’s Liberal Party, and his statement is individual. It (statement) does not represent the position of the Other Political Parties. We do not agree with what he said.”

Dor claimed that Majongdit had insulted Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, in his statements, saying that the latter was behind the strife between communities and the conflict between President Kiir and Vice President Dr. Machar. Dor stated, “What he said in the newspaper about Dr. Elia Lomuro is not true, and it is inappropriate to insult a national minister.”
