Leicester City shocked Manchester City with a 1-0 victory to clinch their Community Shield on Saturday evening.

The two teams were locked up in a 0-0 stalemate for a very long time up to the 89th minute when Nathan Ake brought down former Man City striker Kelech Iheanacho inside the box.

The Nigerian talisman rifled a shot into the top corner to seal a victory for the Foxes with a solitary goal. Jack Grealish made a debut appearance after making a mega-money transfer from Aston Villa.

Jamie Vardy was a treat to the Blues’ defence for the larger part of the game but the English star never managed to pull a goal through. Ilkay Gundogan fired a free-kick which missed the target. It was Leicester City, last season’s FA Cup winners that lifted the Community Shield after edging out the Premier League leaders.

Leicester City now adds a Community Shield to its cabinet that already has the FA Cup having won the Premier League in 2016.
