Community leaders of Lobonok in Central Equatoria State have decried the security situation, food shortages, and limited medical personnel in the area.

The community raised the issues during a visit to Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel on Monday.

Among the delegation that visited the Governor was former Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga, a native of Lobonok.

During the visit, Lobonok Payam Director, Seme Rombek, called for action on persistent security issues to facilitate the return of displaced persons.

“Though the situation is improving, much effort is still needed,” he noted.

Cirisio Zacharia Lado, Chairperson of the Lobonok Development and Cultural Association, reiterated the community’s request for the completion of the Payam office structure and emphasized timely action to enhance governance.

‎“The people of Lobonok request that the Payam be elevated to county status. It’s a vast area, and if not a county, at least recognition as an Administrative Payam would ensure better service delivery,” said Zacharia.

Meanwhile, Noel Matayo, the Youth Representative, raised concerns over cattle roaming farmland, calling for intervention to enable youth to engage in farming.

“We’re ready to farm. We urge your administration to ensure cattle are not returned to destroy farmlands,” said Matayo.

‎Governor Rabi Mujung Emmanuel appreciated the community’s visit and urged the community to work collectively with the State Government, highlighting unity, stability, and infrastructure development as his top priorities.

‎“The President directed me to unite the people of the State. I want to begin by engaging all leaders regardless of their political affiliations. When leaders are united, the people will also be united,” said Governor Mujung.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to engaging all communities in promoting peace, unity and security across the State.
