The South Sudan mobile telecommunication operator, MTN is set to implement a tariff increase effective on Sunday November 15, 2020.
The gradual increments will reach its full peak of 12 SSP per minute on local calls and 30 SSP on international calls on February 15, 2021.
According to the short notice to its customers Friday, MTN will commence the increment with 9.40 SSP per minute on November 15, then climbs to 10.40 SSP per minute on January 15, 2021.
On international calls, 23.50 SSP and 26.50 SSP per minute will be charged on November 15, 2020 and January 15, 2021 respectively before it reaches 30 SSP.
“MTN South Sudan will be adjusting tariff rate effective 15th November 2020 as approved by the National Communication Authority,” the notice partly read.
No reason has been given for the increase of tariff in just less than two years when the NCA approved the current tariffs due to high rate of inflation in March, 2019.
This is a developing story…
