Authorities in Yei River County in partnership with the Central Equatoria State security team, over the weekend officially handed over 53 heads of cattle that were recently recovered following a raid by suspected Mundari cattle herders in the Greater Yei Area.

The cattle were earlier retrieved by a security team dispatched under the directives of Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony as part of ongoing efforts to implement the Presidential Order on the return of cattle to their places of origin and to curb farmers-herders conflicts.

The security operation, led by the State Advisor for Peace and Security, Angelo Daya, successfully recovered the animals that had been raided earlier this week.

Following the recovery, the State security team, in collaboration with Yei River County authorities, officially handed the cattle over to their rightful owners from the Goja Community yesterday.

Representing the Commissioner of Yei River County during the handover ceremony was the Executive Director, Mr. Hillary John Konga, who reaffirmed the County leadership’s commitment to maintaining peace, protecting community property, and supporting efforts aimed at resolving local security challenges.

The County leadership further urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security organs, and continue supporting peace building initiatives to ensure long-term stability across Yei River County
