President Salva Kiir has sacked Warrap State Governor Bona Panek Biar and replaced him with Aleu Anyieny Aleu effective January 28.

The announcement was made by the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Thursday evening. The head of state said the decision is in tandem with the powers bestowed upon him by the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan and other legal provisions.

However, the reasons for the dismissal of Mr Biar are yet to be known.
