Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) has started the rotation of its troops deployed in Malakal under the United Nations Mission for South Sudan (UNMISS).

According to the media reports in Rwanda, RDF started the process known as Relief in Place Operation, sending 128 soldiers from the Infantry of 157 officers to replace 105 officers who now head back to Rwanda.

The first group of the peacekeeping soldiers flew from Kigali on March 10 to South Sudan.

Brig Gen John Bosco Rutikanga, the second Division Commander, urged the soldiers to accomplish their mission in peace by upholding the values of the disciplined force.

“Be always guided by RDF values and safeguard the good image of Rwanda by performing your mission with discipline,” he told the peacekeepers, as reported by the Rwandese media.

The 105 soldiers that left for Kigali were tasked with security patrols, escorting humanitarian assistance providers, and securing IDP camps.
