Unnamed South Sudanese officials will be among 11 individuals the European Union (EU) has earmarked for travel bans and asset freeze over their involvement in human rights violations.

Information from the EU website mapping all the sanctions reveal that South Sudanese officials will be added to the list, which also has other persons from China, Libya, North Korea, Russia and Eritrea.

The website notes: β€˜β€˜The designations are expected to be approved at the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council on 22 March 2021. So far, the EU has listed 4 senior Russian officials under the sanctions regime for their involvement in the arrest, prosecution and sentencing of Alexei Navalny.’’
