South Sudan recorded 150 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, a statement COVID-19 Incident Manager Dr Richard Laku has said.

The country’s caseload now shoots to 6,417 and the total number of recoveries goes to 4,014. The cumulative death has climbed to 85. The statement by the COVID Incident Manager of the Ministry of Health Richard Lako also revealed that the country has now tested 12,537 people since the outbreak of the disease last year.

The cases that are currently under follow-up are 706, while contacts who are still being reached are 507

Earlier this week, World Health Organization (WHO) identified South Sudan as one of the 10 countries registering over 30 per cent in the surge of the virus.

The ministry of health is advising the public to strictly adhere to the measures put in place to control the spread of the virus in the country.
