The Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Agok Makor Kur has issued an assurance that the implementation of the requirements of the 2018 peace deal is on course.

Kur, who is also the member of the Political Bureau of the People’s Movement in the Opposition, told the country not to panic adding transition will be complete as stipulated in the peace accord.

His assurance comes at a time that the presidency failed to complete formation of the transitional assembly after issuing a deadline through the Office of the Minister of Presidential Affairs Nhial Deng Nhial last early this month. The state confirmed that it would accomplish reconstitution of parliament by February 15.

“The people should not feel worried and afraid of the delay in forming the parliament. They [parties] submitted their lists to the president, and the formation of the parliament may be announced at any time soon,” he told The City Review during an interview on Tuesday.

The official further added that the plan to graduate the forces would also happen.

He said, “The graduation and integration of the forces also have ongoing procedures and everything will be done.

“There are no disagreements. Rather, they are measures and arrangements, including financial and logistical arrangements, but they will be resolved, and the forces will be graduated soon.”

He also confirmed that the rest of the structures and bodies stipulated in the agreement will be formed until the final implementation of the agreement.

He said that his ministry was looking for funds to support the national committee for the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, although, it is an independent body and has its own budget to implement all the terms of the agreement.
