A convoy of Ugandan Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, has been sprayed with bullets at Kaasi in the country’s capital of Kampala.

Ugandan media reported that Mr Wamala, who formerly served as a general in the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces, was attacked at 9am. A picture showing him breaking down in tears while his clothes are soaked in blood have been circulated on social media.

The Daily Monitor reported that his daughter, identified as Brenda Wamala Nantongo, and driver, Haruna Kayondo, have died as a result of the attack. The Ugandan press has further revealed that Gen Wamala has been rushed to Medipal Hospital for treatment as the authorities launch investigations into the attack.
