Three African presidents, Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya, Mokgweetsi Masis of Botswana, and Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, have been declared winners of the 10th Africa Leadership Magazine Persons of the year 2021.

President Uhuru was chosen as the African Politician of the year while Mr Masis was picked as the Africa Peace and Security leader.  Mr Chakwera on the other hand was chosen as African President of the year (2021).

Egyptian and Liverpool footballer, Mo Salah, was named in the Africa Leader Magazine of the year alongside five other distinguished Africans in a closely contested poll

The poll, which had become the continent’s premium annual vote-based award, attracted over 10, 000 votes on the African Leadership Magazine website, over 1 million active online engagement during the voting period, and over 5000 votes via email.

Winners shall be decorated and presented with honour instruments on February 26, 2022, during the annual African Leadership Magazine Persons of the year award ceremony, the APO Group news reported on Monday.

However, it added that this year’s ceremony would be held virtually and set to host influential Africans in business, political, and all spheres of the African leadership spectrum.

“These nominees have demonstrated great faith in the Africa project, and are walking their talk in their communities, helping in changing the negative narratives about Africa globally. They all are true lovers of Africa, determinedly contributing, sometimes, amidst challenging circumstances but undoubtedly making Africa and the world a better place for all,” Dr Giami said.

Other winners include Ms Stella Fubara, Director of International Operations with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing who clinched the African female leader of the year.

Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, Vice-Chancellor of Makarere University in Uganda, became the winner of the African Educationist of the year.

The announcement of the winners, unveiled by the Publisher of the Magazine, Dr Ken Giami at the U.K Head Office of the group, was preceded by the awards committee working with the editorial term to collate online and offline votes and submissions from the over 1 million subscribers’ fellowship of the publication.
